Tatami Boucle was created after our classic Tatami mat texture, designed from antique Japanese grass mats. In this collection of work we incorporated a new wool yarn sourced from highland Tibetan sheep. This wool was hand spun and hand carded by craftsmen living in the villages outside of Kathmandu. The resulting texture is a wonderfully random flat weave that resembles a boucle fabric but uses hand techniques to create the tell-tale “slubbed” surface.
