This small scale repeating pattern was based on ancient Chinese court weavings that were originally made for the aristocracy. In the representation by Retorra we are able to capture all of the intricacy and glamour of the original textile in this new rug, making it suitable in a variety of spaces and styles. Ningsia is woven in a mixed weave structure employing knotted pile and flat weaving techniques.
